On Wednesday (10th December), the Michigan Wolverines fired Head Coach Sherrone Moore with cause, due to an ‘inappropriate relationship’ with a staffer. Shortly after all of this was announced, Moore was subsequently arrested in Saline, Michigan and has spent the last 2 days in Washtenaw County Jail.
Today (the 12th of December), the former Wolverines Head Coach had his arraignment at 1pm ET at the Washtenaw District Court, where he appeared via video feed. He currently faces 3 charges: 2 misdemeanours and 1 felony.

During the hearing, further information on what took place on Wednesday afternoon came to light. According to the prosecution, Moore had an “intimate relationship’ with the victim for a number of years”. On Monday (8th of December) the victim broke up with the defendant, presented herself to the University of Michigan and informed them of their relationship.
On Wednesday, Sherrone Moore was informed by the University that his employment had been terminated. He then entered the victims home, grabbed scissors and knives, and threatened to take his own life. He told the victim “my blood is on your hands. You ruined my life.”
Moore will be released today (Friday the 12th of December) on a $25,000 cash surety bond. Details of his bond agreement are:
- Moore cannot use alcohol, marijuana or any other substance that is not ‘subscribed’ to him
- Moore must wear a GPS tether at all times
- Cannot leave the state of Michigan without permission from the court
- Must continue all mental health treatment
- Cannot contact the victim in any way shape or form
His next hearing is scheduled for the 22nd of Januray 2026.
The University of Michigan is yet to comment further on the matter. However, interim President Domenico Grasso sent an e-mail out to students on Thursday (11th) in the aftermath. The Universities Board of Regents met on Thursday also, to discuss the future of Athletic Director Warde Manuel. All signs indicate that his job is currently safe.
Michigan’s job now is to begin the search for a new Head Coach and doing what they can to keep the roster intact. Primarily, with the 3036 recruiting class. 3* OL Bear McWhorter already withdrawing his Letter of Intent.
